Cooling Tower Features

General

SymTec™ cooling towers come completely assembled. If needed, models 5 ton through 25 ton can be disassembled at the jobsite and then reassembled at the point of installation. Larger models can be special ordered for field knockdown.

Belt driven units have, as standard equipment, exterior bearing grease ports to allow for easy access for performing general maintenance requirements. The bearings are stainless steel and are specifically designed for the harsh operational environment of cooling towers.

Pre-wired exterior cabinet mounted electrical boxes are standard on all direct drive units (models 5 ton through 25 ton) to help minimize installation time and are optional on all belt drive units (models 30 ton through 125 ton).

Cabinet

The cabinet is manufactured from 16-gauge galvannealed steel. The base is manufactured from 12 gauge galvannealed steel. Both the cabinet and the base are manufactured from a heavier gauge material than competitive models in order to add strength and durability to our products.

The galvannealed steel sheets undergo a special coating process in order to form an alloy layer improving paint adhesiveness. This process is used by many manufactures today in lieu of using the conventional galvanized steel due to the ability to apply an additional finish and/or coating to add to the longevity of the material.

Finish

A Polane coating is applied after each part is fabricated. The Polane coating is a two-part polyurethane coating that has excellent hardness and adhesion qualities and improves abrasion resistance. By applying the Polane coating to the cabinet and the base we have found that it will extend the life expectancy of the product significantly.

Water Distribution Tray The one part in a cooling tower that receives the harshest treatment and usually the first part to fail is the water distribution tray. For this reason we have chosen to fabricate this part from 16 gauge stainless steel and provide it as a standard feature on all of our cooling towers.
PVC Fill Material The SymTec™ PVC fill material has been designed to allow maximum distribution of water. The increased surface area of our fill provides high efficiency cooling capacity. They have been designed to be resistant to UV, rot, fungus, organic and inorganic solvents, acids and alkalis and chemicals normally found in cooling towers. Drift eliminators are standard for models 30 ton and larger.
